Nature Walk - a photo diary

Last weekend we took a nature walk at the local nature center and happened upon a fun kid-centered activity about migratory birds local to Boise. There were several booths along the nature path that taught us different things about different birds. We started out making a nest and putting some eggs (chocolate candy) in it.

Then we moved on to some face painting. When asked what kind of bird she wanted on her face, Afton said "Blue" so she got a blue bird! She held very very still
and the finished product was really cute!
Then we went to a bird marathon and the bird olympics. We learned about why birds have different types of beaks according to what they eat.
The nature walk was so beautiful as we went from booth to booth that we thought we'd take some time to enjoy the view. This picture is proof that I am absolutely HUGE with over a month left to go on this pregnancy.
Wow. Afton thought she'd be silly (as usual) and pull a crazy face. We also saw lots of fish and some interesting foliage typical in the wetland areas that surround the Boise River.
Here's my handsome husband in a gorgeous spot. Just thought I'd brag about him for a bit too. He treated me to a great Mother's Day where he made all the meals and let me lounge around with my slightly puffy feet put up on the couch. Thanks Jared!

Uhhhh-- Abby, you do NOT look huge. I know that you may FEEL huge (having just been there a year ago myself....) but you look great, and your cute family does, too! What a fun activity.

BTW-- Afton's expressions just kill me-- they are so hilarious. I love how she is "bracing" herself on you while she gets her face painted.
