Just when I was wondering if he'd ever feel the need, Ben rolled! He was on his tummy and realized that if he tipped his head, being in the top heavy age, he'd gain some momentum and roll to his back. Oh how happy he was when he did it (I think our cheers also helped his reaction)! Our chill baby boy is too busy laughing at his sister's antics to really feel like he needs to move anywhere. Nor does he really have much desire to start solid foods. His sour faces and gagging noises tipped me off.
In other big news Afton is being potty trained! I have to credit my sister-in-law Wendy for really giving me the last push I needed to start. After having talked to all the moms around me about what they did to potty train (thanks by the way), and after feeling SUPER intimidated by the whole thing, Afton pretty much announced to me one morning that she was going on the potty and that she wanted her big girl underwear. We haven't looked back since. She loves the freedom of it all... especially that I let her run around in only a shirt and underwear. I think if she hears about nudist colonies she'll run away from home to join one! The only thing I can get her to put on is a brown shirt (that she is so completely obsessed with wearing it is scary) and a nappy skort both of which cost me a whole 50 cents (love Other Mothers, love it). Here is the aforementioned shirt, turned inside out because it was really dirty but she just still had to wear it. She is modeling the horse she created out of her bologna sandwich. I admit I can't really see the horse, but Jared is excited that we might have a rorschach genius on our hands. If I can bribe her to let me do her hair, I feel lucky. Today I was lucky. Tomorrow, who knows.

We are decorated for Christmas already. This is amazing for me seeing as we have never spent a Christmas home in our five years of marriage so haven't really felt much need to decorate too much. We have a tree, stockings, outside lights, and even a nativity scene! I snatched an old fake tree from my mom's house and I think we got it looking pretty good! Now all we need is a star for the top.
And speaking of stars, I tried to get us to take a family picture on Sunday but the stars were just not aligned. Ben wouldn't stay awake, Afton wouldn't stop screaming, and I was having a bad hair day. The only one who cooperated was Jared, as usual. He's the rock of this family. So our family picture this year might end up being this:

We better keep Grant and Afton away from each other or I fear they would run away together to a nudist colony.

Congrats on the potty training!

I remember when none of my kids were in diapers and then I had to start all over again-- I cried. Congrats!

LL still wears the same thing every day-- I wonder when she will find out that is not "cool". (But when her mother does the same thing, I guess it will take her a while to figure it out-- hey! I change my underwear!)

Your whole post made me laugh. I love bens look and I have a feeling Claire will be just like afton. Sh already have a favorite pair of shoes for her and ME. She brings me my red boots every day and makes me wear them.
