Once again we meet our growing family for their 4th of July adventures. The family had grown this year, having added a cute new baby boy to the mix. He turned two months old on the holiday and the family was excited to introduce him to the festivities. Because the baby was so little, the family decided to stay home and celebrate the 4th. They are so glad they did!

They started the weekend off with a trip to the swimming pool where they happily kept cool (and even avoided getting sunburned!) The little girl tried to remember her swimming techniques and the little boy showed off his cool new swim trunks. The baby stayed in the shade and took a nice little nap.

Next the little family headed back home to start their backyard camping adventure. The kids helped their dad put up the tent

The little girl was a whiz at putting the poles together

The little boy was really good at pulling them apart

and then they made themselves comfy inside in their sleeping bags.

The baby took another nap.

Soon it was time to have a backyard BBQ and some yummy food including a fruit pizza. Yum!

The next day they enjoyed going to church together. And the fun didn't stop there! They got a surprise visit from the mom's dear friend who was in town for the holiday. The baby met a new friend and they cuddled up as best buddies right away.

The next day the little family got ready to really play hard. They decorated their bikes and joined a little parade

stopped by a park to join in a Chalk Art Festival

got their faces painted in a very patriotic fashion

and did some really fascinating people watching!

They rounded out the day by doing fireworks in front of their house with the their neighbors!

It was a lovely holiday. And although the family missed their grandparents and cousins, they happily spent their time together close to home and loved every minute of it. Happy 4th of July 2011!
