Pumpkin Fever

This time of year is so fun to go to pumpkin patches and carve pumpkins.  Ben has declared that Halloween has lots of spooky stuff, but he is just not scared by any of it.  Good to know.  I think we'll just keep that whole dark and horrible part of Halloween off his radar so he continues to think it is only about crazy jack-o-lantern faces and kid-ified mummies and witches.  Yup.

We had such a nice conference weekend.  The kids are really into coloring lately and put out a five inch stack of art that just couldn't go undocumented.  I decided to put up some of their better pieces of art and it ended up taking up an entire wall in our family room.  I would never have thought that they would sit through eight hours of conference happily coloring the whole time!!!!! Ben's on the left, Afton's on the right:

Ben got to go on a preschool field trip to a pumpkin patch.  He looked long and hard for the perfect pumpkin and was very happy when he found it!  Here's as close as I got to photographing him with his perfect find.

Ben being a pumpkin head and hanging out with his buddies:

Next up was a local nursery that was offering free pumpkin painting and hay rides.  So we had to go!  Here are the kids on the 100+ pound pumpkin.

 And a family shot:

Our neighbors let us come to their house one evening and jump in their leaves.  The kids couldn't wait to get jumping.  I think Afton has a long jump career in her future:

In other big news, Afton lost her first tooth!  She lost it on October 15th.  Just as she was packing up her backpack at the end of the school day she gave it one last tug and out it came!  She was elated!
That same day we welcomed a new baby to the Carlston clan.  My sister's daughter Amelia Joan.  What a gorgeous little lady that we can't wait to meet and snuggle!

We carved the kids pumpkins for FHE.  Holidays are so much more fun with kids. :)

And to round off our pumpkin extravaganza, we went to the Epilepsy Foundation's pumpkin painting party.  The kids got to paint purple pumpkins.  Cade was giddy that we let him have a paint brush and paint. It mostly got on the pumpkin.

Here is Ben copying his pumpkin's face:

Happy Halloween!

That looks fun, but can you say, "painted purple pumpkins" fast, ten times?

talented kids. Really. The picture Afton gave Gpa Mark that is on their fridge is really articulate. Fun to have a whole wall of it!
