And we're back

After almost a week without use of the computer (cord issues) I am finally back to my fourth obsession (one through three are hubby and kids, of course). It feels good to be back online. And I thought I'd post the latest and greatest from our little family. We had a mellow 4th of July and hit the parade downtown. There sure were a ton of politicians handing out candy, but not many other cool things. Only two horses and about three clowns, and one marching band of bagpipers. But we still had a good time.
Jared and Afton set off a few little fireworks on our back slab of concrete to round out the holiday!

On another note: Afton is really into her emotions lately, as in naming them. We got a great book from the library called Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard and it had been the hit for the past month. Now when she is feeling happy, sad, or whatever, she tells us she is a happy bird or a grumpy bird, etc. So I thought I'd give a photographic example of our child of many faces.
Surprised Bird:
Sad Bird:
Grumpy Bird:
Happy Bird:
Little Ben is still growing like a maniac. He is packing on the chub and the charm. He loves to coo and smile. We are happy he is spending more daytime minutes awake while keeping the sleepiness for nighttime. I think he's perfect, what can I say. Afton has taken to calling him "BenjaMark" or "little buddy".

Aren't horses' a**es and clowns the same thing as politicians??? (J/K, Dad if you read this I didn't mean it...)

Sounds like you had a great time. It is good to see you bad online again:)
Say hello to surprised Bird for me-- I would love to see a picture of that one!!

abby for reals those pics of afton making "emotion" faces are so darling and priceless! love them. congrats on your little dude ( i can't remember if i congratulated you or not already, i have chronic sleep deprivation and retarded brain syndrome) he is darling as well! i hope you aren't like me and have developed a severe case of adhd since adding another child to your household. i can't get any tasks finished ever without a million interruptions, and then i forget what i was doing! anyway bottom line: congrats and your family is darling. loves!

ummm... I totally laughed at that cute AftonBug making faces! What's with the 'Bird' on the end??? It should be Happy Bug and Grumpy Bug! Well... she can be a bird if she wants to :)

I loved Afton's expressions. Aren't kids great? It's good to see new pictures of your boy too, where he's not all wrapped up in blankets. He's a handsome kid.

Afton started making the grumpy face after Abby read her "Grumpy Bird" for the first time. It is about a little bird who wakes up and is too grumpy to eat. Too grumpy to play. And too grumpy to fly. So he walked.

Ahh...we love that book.

Good looking kids. I think that you should stick with Benjamark for the boy. It's funny.

I think you should use the Afton bird pictures as head shots to kick start her acting career. Those pictures are so funny!

I read this post originally in a reader and for some reason it didn't show Afton's pictures. I about died - they are so great. I love it. I almost made the faces myself as I was looking at the pictures - she's that good!

Those pictures are priceless! I need to line my kids up and capture the range of emotions we get in a day! I can't wait to see how cute my kid's "grumpy" faces are in a few years when they are teenagers!
