Exodus or lack thereof

The three month post-baby mark has hit me like a truck. There are specific things that happen to me three months after having a baby. The exact ones that happened with Afton are happening with Ben. The exodus I refer to is the massive loss of my hair. I know I'm not alone in this, many other postpartum mothers go through it too. My pregnant-induced thick hair is falling out in handfulls! I have to say goodbye to my thick locks and hello again to my usual skinny, wussy hair. -sigh- My theory here is that the reason so many moms go for the "mommy haircut" isn't totally to get it out of the way of grabbing baby hands (which little Ben is getting very adept at doing, by the way) but to hide the sad exodus of massive amounts of hair.
The lack thereof comes in the form of NON weightloss. Yeah. I wish my pounds were falling off me half as quickly as my hair. I have a massive appetite, rarely feel full, but am not losing that lovely pregnancy-induced chub. The appetite comes from nursing a 14 lb baby boy that loves to be chubby, but it's not doing anything for my figure! That is such a rip off.
And to round off my TMI post I thought I'd put in a little happy note. My energy level is coming back to normal! Things are settling down and our little BenjaMark has slept through the night for two nights in a row. That almost means more sleep for me... if it weren't for Afton's sad adjustment of waking up in the middle of the night to a new room and getting sad because she's disoriented. But I have all sorts of optimism that all four of us will soon sleep a consecutive six or seven hours very very soon! That makes me happy just thinking about it.

Amen Abby! I'm so with you on every single on of those! I was reading in my journal and when Rylee was 3 months old I was 5 pounds LESS than my pre pregnancy weight! Reese is 2 months and I'm not even down to my pre pregnancy weight yet! Anyways, good luck with all of that!

Well, who cares what the scale says... You look great!! Sorry about the hair loss- I am not looking forward to that seeing as I still have very thin hair. Hopefully everyone will adjust to the new sleeping situation soon!!

Oh, I have such sympathy. I swear I had a huge bald spot on the side of my head from the hair loss after I had Grant. Grrr...

Just think...only three more months to go before we're out of the post-new-baby black hole. I keep thinking maybe I can get a real routine with exercise included or someething. Whatever. It lasts for 3 days max.
