Simple Pleasures

Jared and Afton have been living up the new house life. They have kept busy after he gets home from work with fun activities. Simple pleasure #1: They had a car wash the other night where Afton got to run around in the water in her swimming suit.

Then they trimmed some branches from the tree in the back yard. It is the same type of corkscrew willow tree that I had in the back yard of my house growing up, so I was taken back to memories of trimming parties where we'd make massive tepees and forts out of the big branches. Simple pleasure #2: Jared made a cool fort and fulfilled all sorts of boy scout camping merit badges in the process. My eagle scout has still got his skills. :)

Simple pleasure #3: I finally got to "nest" properly with my baby boy and set up his nursery. I think it is sweet and cozy so far (has some work to go still).
And finally, the simple pleasure #4: it has been eight, yes 8, years that I have been home from my mission and I have not had a proper place to display my Lladro statue of the Christus that my parents gave me. It has special meaning because I served in Valencia, Spain where Lladros are made. Now I have the perfect place and it looks beautiful. Ah yes, another need fulfilled.

I'm so glad to hear you guys are enjoying your new house! I love the car wash and the fort, but I especially LOVE that you are able to nest properly. I am getting so excited to have a little boy- and each time I see Ben just seals the deal more for me!!

Hey-- cool fort. 8 years?? That means 10 for me, almost 11, ug. So where is the picture of where the Lladro is displayed? (I was less spiritual and I got 2 Sevillana dancers for my Lladro.) Someday I would love to get more:) I am excited you guys are in a house-- hooray!

Oh, congratulations on your new home! When we moved into our house, I appreciated every little tree, bush, extra bedroom, extra cabinet, etc. It made me feel like such a grown up to "own" a house! I love your sweet family. Your son looks just like you, Abby!
