It was fun to start out the new year with a party. Jared's parents came up to visit so we had more people to celebrate with. We dropped by our ward to do some kid stuff where Afton got her face painted purple, got a purple balloon, and had a dance party. A perfect combination for her!
Then we headed back to our house for the countdown. I made everyone draw pictures of our year in review and make predictions for 2009. I think my favorite prediction was that I am going to win the Spudman. ha ha. Seeing as I will not be doing the spudman, I look forward to seeing how that one could come true. But Jared will be doing it so maybe he can take my place. I am going to stick to duathlons and cycling races. Goodbye swimming.
We had a fun time making noise, counting down, and as they do in Spain eating 12 grapes at the new year. I think we all managed to get 12 down the hatch, so we are headed for good luck this year!
On New Year's Day we headed to Bogus Basin to do some snow shoeing. Afton got her own pair of purple bear claw snow shoes.
Grandpa Mark helped Afton get the hang of walking and soon she was going like a natural.
Ben was all bundled up like a little bear and seemed to love the view. It was a beautiful day on the mountain.
We had so much fun! It was a great way to start 2009. We hope to do it again soon.

Sounds like lots of fun. I like the bear suit and the bear-claw snow shoes. I haven't heard about this 12 grape tradition, but it may explain why I have not had good luck for the last 29 new years. And it's too late to fix this year. Lousy grapes!
I have ALWAYS wanted to go snowshoeing! I just can't seem to work it out yet so we can go since we have little kids. Loved the little bear claw snow shoes... cute.
Looks like you had a great New Year!
Oh I just saw in the photos that you took Ben with you too... that is awesome! He's a good sport.
Now if I can just find a way to take Jordyn with us (she's in a wheelchair) we'd be set! I bet we could fashion some skis on her chair! haha
Oh, happy new year. What a fabulous way to ring in the new! We haven't tried snow shoeing yet but it looks fun...especially if you get to wear bear claw shoes! I love your cute, cute kids!!!
How fun!! Happy New Year!! Looks like you had a little more excitement for New Years than hanging with the neighbors like last year!! ;)
Happy New Year!!!
It was really fun! Thanks so much for all the good time
How fun-- and great little cuddly bears you have! I totally forgot about the grape tradition. I knew people who would peel the grapes before the hour and then when the clock struck they would slide down easier.
Happy New year!
Your new year´s eve sounds better than mine!!! I´m soooo jealous!!!! :o)
Happy New Year to all of you!!!
Looks like a great time. How fun you had fun parents to spend it with. we love to go snowshoeing too. We got it down with three, but this fourth might throw us for a loop for a while!
Fun! Happy New Year!
That looks like so much fun. You guys always do fun stuff. You probably know this place better than we do.
