Some surprises came that changed things up in good ways and made it a great weekend. First of all we got invited to a HUGE cool easter egg hunt. Afton was excited to collect her eggs because she knows that there is usually chocolate in them. (Notice her easter egg colored outfit, put together herself.)
After filling up on good treats and food and taking naps, we headed to our next activity. My cousin Mindy and her family were in town for a basketball tournament. Her kids are super athletes and have the kind of height and skill I used to dream of in high school. We saw a couple of their games and got to catch up a bit with them. This is Mindy (in the back), Rachel, Erika and our kids at Jake's game.
Because the day had turned super nice and sunny, I grabbed a moment to go on a ride. Jared spoiled me and gave me an early birthday present. He knows I would never buy them on my own but have secretly wanted them for years: cycling shoes and pedals. Look at these beauties.
Sunday was nice because Easter Sunday is just great. Earlier in the week I had decided to make a big 'ol Easter dinner even though it was probably only going to be our little family. Just felt like going all out with a glazed ham, potatoes with parmesan sauce, etc. What to our happy surprise when we ended up having our friends The Balls over for dinner. And we even got a yummy razzleberry pie out of the deal. Yum!
I feel so grateful for family and our friends. Not sure if this comes from having moved so many times in the past 14 years of my life or what but I feel like I need to soak up all the people, places and experiences I can right now. Gratitude for my Savior fills me up and gives me hope. I am so grateful for His atoning sacrifice. I am grateful that families can be forever.
p.s. Some updates: Ben is now going to sleep with NO crying and sleeping all night long! And he is officially army crawling everywhere.

Oh, I just love the sunshine in all those pictures!! Seeing your kids grow up in these pictures makes me realize even more how much we sure miss you guys! Your Easter meal sounds delish! That is so awesome that Ben is sleeping through the night! YAY!! I guess Ben and Beckett just go through opposite cycles, because Beckett is not doing so hot on his sleeping now... DANG!
Glad to hear Ben is sleeping better. Looks like you had a great weekend.
Cute kids and cute shoes!! I'll be calling you when I'm ready to upgrade!
What a delight to read and see your Easter weekend activities!! Great picture taking and very good journaling. These years and times are for making memories and you are doing so well. I treasure your inputs. Thanks for sharing. You all were missed in S.L. but you have such a good life in ID ! Yeah!!!
Happy Bday Afton!!!!
Aunt Cris loves you!!!!
Glad to hear Ben's sleeping better!!! Question: how many nights did you have to listen to him cry himself to sleep? we are in the midst of experimenting with this ourselves. Just curious.
Cycling shoes! Awesome!!! I love biking so much. I think I told you about the Little Red Riding Hood ride in Logan on June 6th-all women, up to 100 miles, but with many shorter distance courses too. Kari C. is going to do it this year and I am too. You should come down!
