Lately I've been complaining that my kids just won't play together. I have heard that once the younger kid hits 18 months there is a magic transformation that happens and your two kids will actually interact and entertain each other. Eagerly awaiting this transformation, I have been disappointed. Instead of entertaining each other, our kids just act like monsters with each other. No, not the fuzzy Elmo kind of monster. The kind that tries to hit, kick, and growl.
Well, this morning a mini-miracle happened. Jared was gone to meetings, I needed to take a shower. The kids were in relatively good moods. I asked them to find something nice to do while I was busy. When I got out of the shower I was half expecting the house to be torn apart, to hear some sort of screaming, and/or to be bombarded with complaints about one or the other. Instead it was eerily quiet. Uh oh, even worse. I walked around the corner and then I heard it: the sound of Afton reading a book. She and Ben were cuddled up on the couch where Afton was reading books (in her own way) and Ben was attentively listening. WHAT? Could my eyes be deceiving me? I looked again and sure enough it was true.
So I am documenting this little miracle today so I can come back and read this again when they are being monsters.

Ahhhh. It is nice when those moments happen:) They seem to be few and far between at our house, but I should probably document them too-- stock up on the good memories!!
Ahhh happy sigh! They are good moments aren't they!
The silence is dangerous, isn't it? :) That's SUCH a cute story.
LOVE IT! I want Afton to read me a book, then I'll promise to behave too!
That is AWESOME! I can't wait!!!
Unexpectedly walking in on your children being sweet and kind to one another is the absolute best! I love it when that happens.
