Announcing #3

Well, we have taken the leap of faith and are now happily expecting Stubbs baby #3! I had my first appointment today where they took an ultrasound of the little kid. This baby was kicking and wiggling so much that we could hardly get a very good look at it. The ultra-sound tech a little condescendingly accused me of having too much sugar this morning. So I had a bowl of Crunch Berries cause it was the only thing that sounded good. So sue me.

Anyway we have confirmation that there is only ONE baby in there (phew!) and that things are all looking good! Yahoo!

It kind of feels good to have the news out so I can stop faking that I feel fine and that I am getting ANYTHING done during the days. Cause I'm not.

But true to his self, my doctor said all the right things to us today and made me feel like a superwoman for taking the plunge into the land of three kids. I love this doctor.

He told us that in his opinion having the third child is really taking the challenge on because you know what pregnancy does to you and how hard it is going to be and all that it takes to bring a child into the world. The first child is really just an experiment. The second is a brave following act. But the third is truly heroic because your body just isn't as forgiving and you have that much less time to take care of yourself (because of #1 and #2 keeping you so busy day and night already). Well, I am not putting it as eloquently as he did, but I'll tell you that it made my day. It made me want to take on all the sickness, pain, discomfort, sleepy daze, etc in order to have another baby! He's magic.

Another thing he told us was that with #3 you can just let them grow up. You're experienced enough now as parents that you don't get as stressed about the spill on the carpet and the house being torn apart. You don't go to the ER with every cough. You don't need to hover over the kid cause you know that they'll survive playing outside with their siblings. So it is kind of a fun experience to just be able to sit back and more confidently enjoy the growth and stages of your baby.

Oh how I want that to be true! So I think I'm just going to go for what he said and breath easier. That is, while I still can take a deep breath... for the next few months.

Hooray!! We are so excited for you guys. Number three is nice-- LO loves playing and hanging out with his sisters. And yes-- you are dang brave. I noticed with lots of my friends (including me) there are a few more years separating #2 and #3 than there were #1 and #2. It is hard to take the plunge again!! Way to go guys! And you have a cool doc!

The doctor seems to have forgotten that third children simply kick a$$. That's what helps us handle the neglect.

Congrats.
