A Little Christmas

I have to document that I got our tree up as soon as I did. It might never happen this early again. And I think it looks as good as it can get for being a twenty year old, beat up and broken, fakey that I scavenged out of my parents basement. Don't mind the very uneven branches and big gaps, and the slight crooked stance it takes. It gives it character. We didn't put ornaments on the bottom part because those branches are so broken that they just kind of sit on the floor. Oh, and so that Ben wouldn't feel like he had to destroy them. He gets like that, you know. Even though he is really cute. He fakes everyone out. See: Don't let him fool you. He can tear apart a room in about 14 seconds flat. Temper-tantrums are a specialty and he has mastered the art of being contrary. All that good stuff about being 2. And yet I still think he's the cutest little guy I've ever laid eyes on. -sigh-

Afton was very precise about hanging the ornaments and I think she might have a career in tree decoration in her future. My mom would be so proud of her granddaughter. I spent most of my holiday seasons going around to different Dr. offices putting up trees with my mom and I pretty much only did it for the promise of a shake and fries from Hires in downtown SLC. I think Afton would do it for free.

Preschool continues to be a fun little adventure for us. I teach every other week and it is totally fun with these two smarty pants:
This week we made gingerbread houses (out of graham crackers) and they spent almost an hour on the details. It was cute to see how proud they were of their work. I can't believe Afton got any frosting actually on her house though because every time I looked at her she was scooping a big mouthful of frosting. I could almost imagine her little voice counting out "One for the house... five for me." :)

At this point I don't see how I am going to get any Christmas cards out since I haven't even done a thing toward that end. Maybe it will have to be a New Year's card this year. We'll see. But I sure love getting cards from everyone else!

Oh I hear ya on the 2 year old temper tantrums! Gotta love those little boys. Ben just looks absolutely too sweet though! Love your tree! It has tons of character!

I think your tree does look good. I like it. Afton has an older look to her face. Not baby/toddler anymore.

Abby and I think that Afton looks ALOT like Grandma Jan in the last picture. Anyone else see it?

I like the tree-- it looks authentic. We were going to cut a tree down this year like always, but we bagged that idea-- too much snow in the mountains. Hooray for fake trees!!! I have Grandma G's old one and it is great! It even sheds its fake needles everywhere.

You do some great things with the preschool gals-- how fun!

And-- I didn't even get a family pic this year, so I doubt we will get Christmas cards out-- just maybe something for Valentines day.....
