Just need to do what is called in Spanglish "quejaring" for a bit. Last weekend I was thrilled beyond belief when I saw our upstairs neighbors, whom I have dubbed the vampires, moving out. What joy and relief! After the 13 hour video game marathon taking place from 11pm to noon on high volume the other week, I had totally HAD it with them. We went so far as to contact the management co. in charge of the place. Well, it had the desired effect because every night after that they would at least keep the noise somewhat down after 11:30ish at night.
What to my surprise last week to see vampire coming down the stairs carrying his mattress and loading it into a truck. It was all I could do not to let out a Woop! of joy at the sight. Instead I smiled all neighborly and then went inside and did a jig with Afton in private. This past weekend was so gloriously quiet.
Last night I made the remark to Jared how nice it was to have the vampires gone and have quiet throughout the night. Yes, can you feel the false hope building up? As I was enjoying a few hours of restful sleep before the child in my belly starts kicking me awake at 3am, I found myself suddenly awakened by a big bang and boom. It was only 1:20 in the morning, so I couldn't figure out what it could be. As I got up to investigate, the reality sunk in... the vampires were striking again. I am not sure why, but they decided to come back to the apartment in the middle of the night to move out their washer and dryer, after doing a couple loads of rocks. Then they had a jumping party in the kitchen that was making our light fixtures and our windows rattle. I lay back in bed, almost defeated, debating if I should go up in my pregnant glory and chew them out or just give up and pray they didn't wake my toddler. I ended up giving up and letting the vampires win. Besides, the earthquake only went on until a little after 2am.

Hey there! Congrats on the boy addition to the family! Maybe we'll end up having twin birth-days! :) You never know. So fun to see your blog! :)
Oh my gosh! Well, hopefully they are gone for good now though! I never once heard them when we were sleeping there... I only heard them during the day time- Ahh... this too shall pass.. Spring is coming and I'm sure that your house will sell to someone great and we will all be happy with who moves in!! And then you guys can move away from any past, present or future vampires in the apt complex!
oh man, this is making me remember our apartment in seattle - we called them the "elephants" because they stomped everywhere they went. they also liked to play the piano loudly first thing in the morning. apartment life can really be the pits. :(
Ug. That is so annoying. I will pray that fluffy little bunnies move in, they would make great neighbors.
It just kills me that people can be so inconsiderate when they know others live around them...
