My confession: I am obsessed with the Olympics. I watch about every minute of every bit of it played on regular network tv. If we had cable, I would never leave the house because they play all the "lesser" sports and even stuff the US isn't playing in or favored to win. But I can't help myself. I just love watching the Olympics! I can remember olympic moments back in my childhood really well, and that is really saying something. I can only remember a few things from growing up... jumping on the trampoline being the most vivid. But I can also remember watching Marylou get a perfect ten like it was yesterday. So when I watch the Olympics, I get my little fix of sports-watching and admiration for their dedication all in one.
How cool that Phelps rocked every race and that the womens rowing, water polo, fencing, volleyball and soccer teams are doing so well!!!! It's awesome.
It inspires me to start exercising again and to do another triathlon. But that will have to wait until after the Olympics because I am too busy sitting on my couch watching...

Ha! I love my couch, too-- I loved watching the Olympic swimming. I haven't had any chances to watch the other stuff. I was amazed by the swimmers-- mostly Dara Torres, probably because she was closer to my age than the other athletes. She was awesome-- her perspective was what made her a hero. She didn't seem too frazzled about the whole deal. It is always amazing to see what the human body can do-- (NOT mine, of course!!) but there are some fantastically blessed athletes, aren't there?
I get frustrated when NBC only shows swimming and gymnastics, and the occasional volleyball game. Where's my badminton? White water rafting? I briefly saw synchronized diving, which was interesting and caught a last minute of trampolining. I'm glad they started the track events finally, I like the hurdles and pole vault.
we been watching it all on nbcolympics.com I love it AND you can get all the sports you want.
Oh yes... I am all about the olympics- Josh and I can't get any regular TV reception on our TV down in the basement, so we decided to splurge and get cable for the olympics and BYU football and whenever I am home, I am watching the olympics. Seriously lost a lot of sleep because I just can't stop watching it!
After we had decided that cable was too expensive here in Winnemucca, we almost were persuaded to get it when we realized that we only get NBC in black and white, with the occasional burst of color. The problem is that in the Pacific time zone, the Olympic coverage doesn't end until midnight or later...I am such a zombie lately. What will we do when it ends??
Did you see the triathlon? It was amazing. Those guys had 30 second transitions. It was cool. I must admit I loved every second of the swimming. I thought it was great. I thought Phelps was amazing, but also wished some of the other US swimmers would have gotten more attention. Like Lochte. He is amazing, but got totally dismissed because of Phelps. Anyhow..fun times!
You have no idea how Brazilians got frustrated on losing female soccer match against US...I'm glad I'm not watching it...Brazil is having an awful campain!!!!
Yes! I'm in love with the Olympics too. So inspiring. What triathlons have you done? I did the Burley Spudman in 07 and I'd love to do it again sometime. Let me know if you are doing it next year!
haha! i hear you about having to get up off the couch! my cousin asked me if i'd do a triathlon with her next year...um...one major problem. I HATE running! anyway, i do try to fold laundry, iron or something while i watch! but i'm totally loving it too. it was a little sad to watch the usa women take silver yesterday. from what i saw it did look like brazil deserved it though, so i guess it's ok. silver is still way awesome!

I love the Olympics as well! I have faithfully watched as much as I can and find myself cheering wildly for any team that is considered the "underdog". I had a very animated conversation the other day about Lolo in the 200m hurdles and somewhere in the middle of the conversation I paniked because I really don't know anything about the event. Ah...I'm so, so sad the Olympics is over.
