We took the kids to their first minor (A) league baseball game. We saw the Boise Hawks play the Spokane Indians. Since Afton was born in Spokane and Ben was born in Boise, the kids chose the teams they would cheer for based on birthplace. They had tons of fun! (Check out Afton's outfit. She very thoughtfully put it together... I think she kind of thought we were going to a rodeo because she looks a little bit like a rodeo clown. Her sense of style is endlessly entertaining to me!)

Ben was super excited to see the Hawks mascot, Humphrey. I have to say that we have never seen a lazier mascot nor one that was less interactive with kids. This guy very slowly walked around the stadium, stopping frequently to sit down by himself in an empty area, and never approached a single person besides a cute Hawks stadium worker. When kids would come up to him, he'd kind of hold out his "wing" and let them give him high-5. Ben made his way over, telling me the whole time that he wanted to give the hawk 5. When we got to him, the token wing was raised and a split second after Ben smacked it, Humphrey let his hand drop and assumed his zombie pose of sitting and staring forward. Ben didn't seem to mind and was happy to talk about his encounter with the huge hawk.

We left after the fourth inning, and that was about all we needed to fulfill the little activity. I'll just check that off as something we've done (and probably don't need to do again for awhile!) and say it's good. We feel so American.

I think Afton looks great!
Way to be Americans! :)
I guess this means that Ian has to cheer for the Fairbanks Miners and Eliza for the IF Chukars? I don't think we'll ever get to cheer for a team!
I love baseball games and recently decided that with kids, minor leagues is the way to go...even more laid back and relaxed than a major league game, cheaper, quieter, less crowded. More fun.
love Afton's outfit. Cute shot of Ben even if the mascot was a dud. Of course have a permanent smile and happy eyes on your outfit probably helped the guy
Oh man, that story of the mascot is so funny. I'm glad Ben didn't mind.
