Last weekend Jared completed the Burley Spudman triathlon for his fourth time. It was a great experience again. I just love races because there is a palpable excitement and energy in the air. Everyone struts around in their spandex like it doesn't even matter. The triathlete families and friends are everywhere. I feel inspired to be more fit and do more races. It's awesome.
This year Jared did it with his two brothers Mike and Rich. All three completed the race and lived to tell about it.

Jared's dad was slated to do it too, but had to have hernia surgery a couple weeks ago so wasn't able to compete this year. (I guess hernias run in the family.)
Jared did really well, completing his goals for all three events. All that training paid off!

We got to go to our old stomping grounds, the lovable and tiny town of Burley. It was fun to show the kids our old house and visit with our sweet friends. The smell of cows and fields full of crops was in the air. Although I don't want to move back, I am so glad we had that experience of living there. We loved it!
The kids had a fun adventure staying at a hotel and hanging out with their cousins and grandparents.

It was our first trip since Cade was born. The kiddos all did really really well. The downside was that traveling took forever. We were excited at the get-go that we only had to do a 2 1/2 hour drive instead of 6+ hours. Well, that 2 1/2 drive took 6 hours both ways anyway. Ahhh! What with Ben having to go to the bathroom every half hour (and refusing to go on the side of the road) and then having to feed the baby, it just took forever. We're hoping and praying that in two weeks it will go smoother when we have a longer trip to take. Fingers crossed.
We got to see Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls and that was amazing. The scorching heat kept us from staying too long, but I was happy to finally see water flowing over the falls! The perks of a wet year.

And on another note:
Cade hits his three month mark this week. He's so fun! We love every inch of his happy self. He's sleeping through the night most of the time, he coos and laughs and smiles all the time, he's getting stronger and able to hold his head up more and more, and we just love him.
