The kids were looking forward to it for months so had planned out all sorts of things they wanted to do. Ben was determined to go fishing with a net and catch many fish. Afton wanted to swim a ton and see her cousins.
We got there early and headed right to Lake Stanley to see if we could catch a fish. We'd been told by a local that they'd just stocked the lake with trout and if you caught one with a tag you could win $$. Well, we tried, but didn't have any luck that day.
We went early the next morning to the fish hatchery to watch them catch, weigh, measure, and move the huge salmon. It was fun to see fish as big as some of the kids!
It was very exciting, but a little sad too because Ben was really bummed it wasn't him. I think he likes the idea of fishing but doesn't really care for the details of actually getting the line out in the water to try and catch one!
On Sunday we went to the local branch. The chapel in Stanley is magnificent for it's views. We got to see the Sawtooths during the service and then went out afterwards to take pictures. Here are all the cute cousins (minus Spencer) with the picturesque background
And some more pictures just cuz...
oh, p.s. here's Afton being brave... she actually ate some of the fish!
